Like everyone else I get bored with all the usual Christmas songs that are played non-stop in shops/ pubs etc so this year I’ve pulled together some of the best heavy metal versions of Christmas songs, so here they are – in no particular order. Enjoy.
One of the best heavy metal Christmas compilations is the album ‘We Wish You A Metal Xmas and A Headbanging New Year‘ – a few tracks including the title track are featured on this list;
No heavy metal list would be complete without Lemmy:
Ronnie James Dio from Rainbow, Black Sabbath and (obviously) Dio along with Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath;
Twisted Sister actually released a Christmas album (a Twisted Christmas), here’s one of the tracks from that album;
A legend of Hammer Horror films and someone who sang on numerous ‘Symphonic Metal’ albums – Christopher Lee:
Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour released this a couple of years ago to try and stop the usual X Fact rubbish reaching no.1 at Christmas unfortunately it didn’t manage that but it still sounds great;
Leo Moracchioli started doing metal covers of pop songs a few years ago and has built up an impressive number of songs and some great videos, he also produced a brilliant Christmas EP:
Judas Priest singer and Metal God, Rob Halford:
Alice Cooper wasn’t going to miss out on a Christmas song:
The Heavy Metal Christmas album had some great versions of Christmas songs including this one:
Iron Maiden also got in on the Christmas song routine earlier in their career when Paul Di’anno was their lead singer;
And of course what else could you play on Christmas Day but the band who have had more comebacks than Frank Sinatra – Thunder, with their song Christmas Day;
There are plenty of other heavy metal songs drifting across the internet including Greek heavy metal band Orion’s Reign;
King Diamond and;
not forgetting Spinal Tap.
